Super sweet and were a big part of our childhood, if we weren't munching on it we were in the kitchen making it. Later as we got older it was a regular sight to see small businesses to go door to door selling Macaroon Bars and Scottish Butter Tablet.
The recipe was said to have been discovered by accident in 1931 when confectioner John Justice Lees botched the formula for making a chocolate fondant bar and threw coconut over it in disgust, thus the Macaroon Bar was born.
So here we are today carrying on that tradition! A real taste of Scotland!
